An d that they are a lot easier to find in Yellow than a Ranger. I’ve never been concerned about color in the past aside from a small preference to be a color (i.e. not white or grey) but suddenly I’m enamored with the idea of a yellow off-roader.

Beware the strawberry milkshake of death. Better yet, get a manual trans Xterra and never worry about that.  They're reliable otherwise.  Just bad on gas.

I feel like finding a yellow ranger would be a lot easier.

This one just recently popped up on my local craigslist, equipped with a clutch pedal!

BTW how is the Bronco doing?

I saw a yellow Xterra alongside the road for sale last year, seriously considered stopping for more details. Love the color (obviously).

When I’ve gone online searching for them, I haven’t had a lot of luck on CL, but here’s a yellow one with a manual....

Depends. I prefer dark green, makes it easier to blend in with a shrubbery in case you need to be a little less visible.

Yeah I know all about that issue from when I was looking seriously at these a couple years back. Apparently it can be prevented by simply replacing some hose clamps.

And as far as gas goes I commute a total of 24 miles a week, so I won’t really feel the crunch on the day-to- day.

Good - as long as you’re aware of it. Not familiar with a hose clamp fix, unless it’s just cutting off flow to the trans cooler.

I’ve got a 2005 Pathfinder I bought new.  Same mechanicals.  170k and the only issue I’ve had was a cam sensor at 168k.  Very trucky and mileage in the teens but a damn good truck.

And here’s one with not only the explody transmission/radiator thing, but it’s also rebuilt!

Well it is still a used Nissan, so it's natural home is still a BHPH lot.

From what I’ve read, the problem is caused by the hoses cracking at the clamp. So the idea is that if you replace the worm gear clamps with a spring style clamp you’re good.

Sadly, I have not touched it in like a year so it's just gotta go. That's the key reason I'm looking at buying another 4x4.

I've had mine long enough that it has an external trans cooler and I truly don't remember how it got there. Strange maybe but I swear Nissan did it at no cost to me.

Ive got one, an Xterra, not yellow though. It’s great. All the functionality of a 4runner without the Toyota tax. I do wish the rear window rolled down though. That’s a real plus for the 4runner.

They actually have 2 coolers, 1 in the radiator for all models, and an external for those with the tow package. It’s the one in the radiator that eventually leaks, causing coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. If you have the tow package and don’t tow, simply disconnect the radiator cooler and you’re good to go. If you do tow, replace the radiator with an upgraded one.

I agree! Basically a cheap 4Runner, minus the good window.
